EEA Applications

ACS Visas

EU Settlement Scheme

EEA and Swiss nationals in UK by the end of 2020 must obtain a Pre-Settled Status (PSS), or Settled Status (SS) if they have been here 5 years no later than June 2021. Those who have not been here will get PSS and will be able to qualify for SS by 5 years residency, subject to criminality check.

Your family members will be able to join you here up to June 2021.

Family permits

If your family members are not EEA or Swiss nationals, they may need to apply for an EEA family permit before they can come to the UK. This permit is similar to a 6 month visa but with right to work. Once here they need to apply for PSS.

Surinder Singh Route

This permits British Citizens who have moved to another EEA country to be joined be family members using the family permit route. When they return to UK, the family members do not need to meet the requirements of the UK immigration rules such as income and English language. They are treated as EEA national family members on return, even though the sponsor is a British Citizen. However, the move has to be genuine and should be a minimum of 3 months. With Brexit approaching this route will be closed.

Working in the UK

If you are a national of an EEA country or Switzerland, you do not need to apply for permission to work here. Family members are also permitted to work, but extended family members will need a residence card or PSS first.

Nationality

It is now mandatory to obtain SS, Permanent Residency or Indefinite Leave to Remain before applying for nationality.

At ACS Visas we have experience in all these applications, appeals and representing in Tribunals.
